WLAN Enterprise to Outpace Home Market by 2005 |
|
|
Washington, DC – September 11,
2003 – Purchases of WLAN hardware from large US private and
governmental enterprises will exceed purchases from
households and small-office, home-office entities (SOHOs) for
the first time in 2005, according to new research by
telecommunications consultancy ForceNine Consulting. In
recent years, the emerging WLAN market, principally made up
of products adhering to the 802.11 series of standards, has
been driven primarily by households and small businesses.
ForceNine projects that this will change with the emergence
of the federal government and hospitals as major sectors
adopting WLANs, and with the continued growth of early
adoptors such as the retail logistics sector.
